Social Democratic Students is a nationwide political student organization. Our activities are open to all students, postgraduate students, and future students who want to improve students’ conditions and help change society. Membership is free of charge.
We are a community for anyone looking to meet new people and get involved in meaningful student activities.
Our goal is to promote freedom, equality, and justice. We are a feminist organization that stands for democracy, solidarity, and internationalism. We believe that everyone has the right to education, work, and a good life – but not at the expense of other people or the environment.
We aim to improve students’ well-being, equality, and sense of community, while contributing to a sustainable and international world. In addition to student politics, we are active across a wide range of political issues, from economic and equality policy to European and international affairs.
We operate locally, nationally, and internationally across all higher education institutions.
At the local level, our activities include events and student parties (“appros”) organized by our local branches, campus outreach at higher education institutions, and participation in student representative elections at universities and universities of applied sciences. Read more about our local activities here.
At the student politics level, our work includes organizing student representative elections at higher education institutions and operating through our representative groups within them. Read more about our student activities here.
At the national level, our activities include nationwide events, trainings, and campus tours. Each year, we organize events such as Spring Days in the spring and Autumn Days in the fall. Our annual congress is held in October–November. Read more about our national activities here.
Our networks—such as the representative network, the rainbow network, and the international network—also provide an easy way to get involved. Join networks here.
At the international level, our activities include trips and participation in the work of our international umbrella organizations, FNSU and YES. Read more about our international activities here.
Representative Councils (RepCos) are the highest decision-making organs of student unions at universities of applied sciences and universities. Representative Council Elections are held annually in the student unions of universities of applied sciences and in odd-numbered years in the university student unions. All registered, attending members are eligible to vote and run as candidates.
